The 1987/88 season was the third season of the Eliteserien , the highest Danish ice hockey division . Champion was for the second time in the history of Esbjerg IK . Gladsaxe SF rose to the second division.

In the main round, each of the seven teams played a total of 24 games. The four best-placed teams qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The last placed rose to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
