The 1968/69 season was the twelfth season of the 1st division , the highest Danish ice hockey division . Esbjerg IK became champions for the first time in the club's history . AaB Ishockey was relegated to the second division.

In the main round, each of the eight teams played a total of 14 games. The first place in the main round was champion. The last placed rose to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
