The 1960/61 season was the first season of the 1st division , the highest Danish ice hockey league, after no league games had previously been held in Denmark. Champion was for the third time in the history of the KSF Copenhagen club .

In the main round, each of the four teams played a total of six games. The first place in the main round was champion. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.

Relegation

Silkeborg SF finished last in the 1st division and therefore had to compete in the relegation against the winner of the 2nd division, Furesø .

Thus, the Silkeborg SF rose from in the second division and was replaced by the team from Furesø.
