The 1985/86 season was the first season of the Elite Series , the highest Danish ice hockey league, which was played under the name of the 1st division until the league reform in 1985 . Champions were for the fourth time in the history of the Rødovre SIK . The Hellerup IK was relegated to the 1st division .

mode

In the main round, each of the seven teams played a total of 24 games. The four best-placed teams qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The last placed rose to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
