The Herlev Eagles are a Danish ice hockey team from Herlev , a suburb of the capital Copenhagen , which has been playing in the top Danish league, the Metal Ligaen , again since 2011 .
history
The parent club was founded in 1970 as Herlev IK , followed by a re-establishment in 1993 and the outsourcing of the professional team to the Herlev Eagles , whose nickname was finally changed to Hornets in 2005 .
The team has been Danish champion once - in 1984 . In 1982, 1997 and 1999 the club won the championship of the second-class 1st division .
Before the 2009/10 season , the Hornets were denied participation in the AL-Bank Ligaen due to a lack of sponsorship income. The game was then continued in the 1st division and in the junior division. During this time, the nickname of the first team was changed back to Eagles , while the parent club continues to play under the nickname Hornets .
Before the 2011/12 season , the club again participated in the licensing for the AL-Bank Ligaen (now Metal Ligaen) and received the gaming license. For the first season after the promotion, among others, Kim Staal , Jesper Duus and Frederik Storm were committed.
