Michael Madsen (born November 21, 1980 ) is a Danish ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with SønderjyskE Ishockey in the Danish Metal Ligaen . His father Bent Madsen was also a professional ice hockey player.

Player career

Michael Madsen moved after his junior years to North America, where he stood for a season for the Bracebridge Bears in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association between the posts. In 1997 Madsen returned to Denmark. There he played for five years in the top division, which at that time was still called the Eliteserien , for the Vojens Lions and then moved to league rivals Hvidovre IK . However, the Dane left the team during the current 2002/03 season in the direction of Rungsted Cobras . From 2004 to 2007 the goalkeeper was on the ice for the Herlev Eagles, who have been called Herlev Hornets since 2005 . This engagement was only interrupted by a short guest appearance in the championship round of the German Oberliga 2006 when Madsen signed a contract with Heilbronner EC . Although the Dane only played a total of 15 games for the Unterländer, he was voted “Player of the Month” by club supporters in February.

In the 2006/07 season, the Dane stood for Vaasan Sport in the Mestis , the second highest Finnish division, between the posts. About the Rødovre Mighty Bulls , with which he was cup winner in 2008, the goalkeeper came back to his former club from Hvidovre for the 2008/09 season, which had since changed its name to Totempo HvIK. From the 2011/12 season he played again for SønderjyskE Ishockey in the AL-Bank Ligaen. In 2013 he won the Danish championship with the club .

During the 2013/14 season he got a short-term contract from SønderjyskE in November and was signed as the third goalkeeper in January 2014. Overall, however, he only came to three missions in the entire season.

International

For Denmark , Madsen took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B European Championship in 1998 and the U20 Junior B World Championship in 2000 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Cup in 2002 and the A World Cup in 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 .
