The 31st European U18 Ice Hockey Championship took place from April 11th to 19th, 1998 in Malung and Mora in Sweden . The games of the B group were played from April 5 to 12, 1998 in the German cities of Füssen and Memmingen . The C group played from the 16th bis 20th March 1998 in Zagreb in Croatia . From March 3 to 8, 1998, Luxembourg hosted the D-Group.

Continuation as a world championship

In the following 1998/99 season, the International Ice Hockey Federation organized a world championship for juniors in the U18 age group for the first time . For the first edition of this World Cup , the group structure and the class affiliation of the European teams were largely adopted.
