Career
Nikolai Antropov was selected as the tenth overall player by the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in the first round . First, however, he moved for a year in the Russian Super League to HK Dynamo Moscow , after he had previously gone through the junior division of Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk . In his first two seasons in North America Antropow played both for Toronto in the National Hockey League , as well as for their farm team at the time , the St. John's Maple Leafs from the American Hockey League , then exclusively in the NHL.
During the lockout of the 2004/05 NHL season , Antropov signed a contract with Ak Bars Kazan from the Russian Super League on October 27, 2004 , and then on December 20, 2004 a contract with league rivals Lokomotiv Yaroslavl .
After resumption of play in the summer of 2005 Antropov returned to the Maple Leafs, for which he played regularly in the NHL until March 2009. Shortly before the trade deadline, a transfer to the New York Rangers followed , where the striker ended the 2008/09 season. In July 2009, Antropov signed a four-year free agent contract valued at $ 16.25 million with the Atlanta Thrashers . There he set a new personal record in the 2009/10 season with 67 points in 76 regular season games. In the summer of 2011, the franchise was relocated to Winnipeg and continued gaming operations under the name Winnipeg Jets .
After playing in the Continental Hockey League at Barys Astana during the lockout of the 2012/13 season , he signed a two-year contract there in August 2013.
International
For the Kazakh national ice hockey team Antropov took part in the Junior B World Cup in 1997 , Junior A World Cup in 1998 and 1999 and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where he scored once in five games.
