The 9th European Ice Hockey Championship for U19 juniors took place from March 21 to 28, 1976 in Kopřivnice and Opava in Czechoslovakia . The games of the B group were played from March 6 to 14, 1976 in Bucharest and Ploiesti in Romania .

A group

The A group of the European Championship was enlarged to eight teams. The representation of Bulgaria decided not to participate because of a flu epidemic and was thus determined to be relegated. Instead of the Bulgarians, the U18 selection of the host country took part, but played their games out of competition.
