Juan Francisco Aragone
Juan Francisco Aragone (born May 24, 1883 in Carmelo , Uruguay , † May 7, 1953 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan Roman Catholic bishop .
Life
He was ordained a priest on October 28, 1908. On July 3, 1919, he was appointed to succeed Mariano Soler in the position of Archbishop of Montevideo , which had been vacant for over ten years . He was ordained bishop on November 9th of the same year by the Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina, Archbishop Alberto Vassallo di Torregrossa ; Co-consecrators were the two auxiliary bishops in Montevideo, Archbishop Ricardo Isaza y Goyechea and Bishop Pio Stella . Juan Francisco Aragone held the archbishopric until his resignation on November 20, 1940, after which he was appointed titular archbishop of Melitene .
