Tony Hans Mårtensson (born June 23, 1980 in Upplands Väsby ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who was last under contract with Linköpings HC from the Svenska Hockeyligan .
Career
Tony Mårtensson began his career with the Arlanda Wings , for which he was active in the Swedish Division 1 for three years from 1996 to 2000 and then for one season in the HockeyAllsvenskan . The attacker then moved to Brynäs IF , for whom he was on the ice for two years in the Elitserien . During this time he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round as a total of 224th player by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . From 2002 to 2004 the Swede played mainly for their farm team , the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks from the American Hockey League . Only in the 2003/04 season he scored two scorer points, including one goal, in six games for Anaheim in the National Hockey League .
In the summer of 2004 Mårtensson returned to his home in Sweden, where he received a contract with Linköpings HC . With Linköping he was Swedish runner-up in 2007 and 2008. In addition, he received the Guldhjälmen as the most valuable player of the season in the 2007/08 season, was top scorer in the main round, best assists in the Elitserien main round and the playoffs. For the 2008/09 season Mårtensson was loaned to Ak Bars Kazan from the newly formed Continental Hockey League , with which he won the Gagarin Cup . For the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons he was awarded to the SKA Saint Petersburg .
In April 2015 he won the Gagarin Cup again with SKA Saint Petersburg. He then left the club and moved to HC Lugano in the Swiss National League A . While he was still an important performer in his first season there after starting difficulties, he was unable to show these performances again in the 2016/17 season and left the club in April 2017 for Linköpings HC.
International
For Sweden , Mårtensson took part in the junior division of the U18 European Junior Championship in 1998 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 . Among the seniors, he was active at the 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 and 2010 World Championships . At the U18 European Junior Championships in 1998 and the 2006 World Cup, Mårtensson was world champion with his team. He won bronze at the 2009 and 2010 World Championships.
