Gagarin Cup
The Gagarin Cup ( Russian Кубок Гагарина ) is the winner's trophy of the Continental Hockey League . The trophy was named after the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and was awarded for the first time when the KHL was founded in the 2008/09 season .
A total of 28 teams play for this cup, 16 of which qualify for the play-offs after the preliminary round . The entire play-offs, including the final series, will be played in best-of-seven mode. The winner of the final round of the play-offs will receive the Gagarin Cup.
