The 2017/18 season is the tenth season of the Continental Hockey League . The defending champion is SKA Saint Petersburg .

The league started the season with 27 teams from Kazakhstan , Latvia , Russia , Slovakia , Finland , Belarus and China .

mode

In the regular season , the teams are divided into two conferences and four divisions of seven or six (Bobrow Division) teams. Each team had to play a total of 56 games:

  • 52 games against every other team in the league (one home and one away game)
  • 4 games (two home and two away games) against teams from your own conference, taking regional aspects and rivalries into account

The team with the most points wins the Continental Cup .

For a win in the regular playing time of 60 minutes, a team receives three points, the losing opponent receives nothing. If a team wins in overtime or in the shootout , they only get two points, while the loser gets one point.

After the regular season, the play-offs for the Gagarin Cup follow , for which the 16 teams with the best points qualify. The division winners occupy the first four positions on the seeding list. All play-off rounds were played in best-of-seven mode.
