Emil Ramilewitsch Garipow ( Russian Эмиль Рамилевич Гарипов ; born August 15, 1991 in Kazan , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HK Avangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League since December 2019 .
Career
Emil Garipow comes from the youth department of Ak Bars Kazan , for whose second men's team he made his debut in the third-rate Pervaya League during the 2005/06 season . During the 2007/08 season he made his debut for the club's professional team when he was used in a Superliga game and remained clean. The following season he was used in parallel with the second team of Ak Bars and Neftjanik Almetjewsk in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga .
In 2009 he won the silver medal at the U18 Junior World Championship with the U18 national team of Russia .
With the establishment of the junior team Bars Kazan , which was a founding member of the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga in 2009 , Garipow switched to the squad of this team, but subsequently also played several games for Neftjanik.
From the 2011/12 season Garipow is part of the extended squad of the professional team of Ak Bars and was the team's regular goalkeeper for the 2014/15 season. Previously, in the 2013/14 season he had the best goalscoring and the best catch quota of all KHL goalkeepers and thereby ousted Konstantin Barulin from his post.
At the end of the 2017/18 season he won the Gagarin Cup with Ak Bars and with it the Russian championship . Due to a back injury, he was unable to play games for Ak Bars from December 2018. At the end of November 2019, he left the Kazan club after 252 KHL games by mutual agreement and moved to HK Awangard Omsk .
