Igor Sergejewitsch Makarow ( Russian Игорь Сергеевич Макаров ; born September 19, 1987 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Avangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League since September .
Career
Igor Makarov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Krylya Sowetow Moscow , for whose professional team he was active from 2004 to 2006 in the Wysschaya League , the second Russian division. At the same time, he was since 2003 for the second team in the third-class Perwaja League to use. In the 2006 NHL Entry Draft , the winger was selected in the second round as the 33rd player of the Chicago Blackhawks , for whom he never played. Instead, he stayed in Russia, where he spent the following three and a half seasons at SKA Saint Petersburg , initially in the Super League and from the 2008/09 season in the newly founded Continental Hockey League .
During the 2009/10 season Makarow moved to HK Dynamo Moscow , where he stayed until its merger with HK MWD Balaschicha following the season. As a result, the Chicago Blackhawks brought him to North America, where he was active in the 2010/11 season for the Blackhawks' farm team, the Rockford IceHogs , in the American Hockey League . He scored 24 scorer points in 68 games. Since he could not prevail at the Blackhawks, he returned to Russia in August 2011 and was again committed by the SKA. At SKA he was part of the regular squad and played over 180 games for the army sports club before he was given to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in November in exchange for a right to vote for the KHL Junior Draft 2015 . A month later, Ildar Schiksatdarow from HK CSKA Moscow exchanged for the young player Ildar Schiksatdarow in Neftechimik .
In the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons Makarow was active for Salawat Julajew Ufa and completed over 90 KHL games for the club. He then returned to Dynamo Moscow in September 2018 and received a contract there until the end of the season in October 2018. For Dynamo he had played 57 KHL games by the end of the 2018/19 season, in which he collected 14 points. Then his contract ran out and Makarov left Dynamo.
In September 2019 he received a trial contract with HK Awangard Omsk , which was extended at the end of the month until the end of the season.
International
For Russia Makarov took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2004 , the Nations Cup 2005 and the U18 Junior World Championship in 2005 . At the U20 Junior World Championship in 2007 he won the silver medal with the Russian U20 national team .
In the men's area, Makarov came to individual missions for the senior national team between 2008 and 2013 as part of the Euro Hockey Tour .
