Igor Sergeyevich Bobkow ( Russian Игорь Сергеевич Бобков ; English transcription: Igor Sergeyevich Bobkov ; born January 2, 1991 in Surgut , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HK Awangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League since May 2018 .

Career

Igor Bobkow began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League in the 2008/09 season . The goalkeeper was then selected in the third round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft as the 76th player in total by the Anaheim Ducks . Initially, however, he stayed in Magnitogorsk and in 2010 won the Kharlamov Cup with Metallurg's junior team Stalnye Lissy Magnitogorsk , the championship title of the newly founded multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga .

In the summer of 2010 Bobkow went to the London Knights , for which he was then 24 times in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League between the posts. He also came to two appearances for Anaheim's farm team , the Syracuse Crunch , in the American Hockey League during the 2010/11 season . During the same season, in October 2010, the Russian signed a three-year entry - level contract with the Anaheim Ducks. For the 2011/12 season he moved to the Kingston Frontenacs within the OHL .

At the beginning of the 2013/14 season , Bobkow was transferred from the NHL squad to the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL and subsequently continued to switch between ECHL and AHL. After three years without a service for the Ducks in the NHL Bobkow left North America and returned to his homeland, where he joined Admiral Vladivostok from the Continental Hockey League . There he showed some very good performances in the following years, so that in May 2018 he initially received a contract extension for two years. A few hours later, this contract was taken over by HK Awangard Omsk against payment of compensation.

International

For Russia , Bobkow took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2009 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2010 and 2011 .
