Alexei Andrejewitsch Bondarew ( Russian Алексей Андреевич Бондарев ; born January 9, 1983 in Ust-Kamenogorsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Avangard Omsk in the Continental Hockey League since July 2018 .

Career

Alexei Bondarew began his career as a hockey player in the youth of HK Awangard Omsk , for whose second team he was active from 1998 to 2001 in the third-rate Pervaya League . He then played for a year for Mostowik Kurgan in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga . In the 2002/03 season, the defender made his debut in the Russian Super League for HK Metschel Chelyabinsk , where he scored four points in 32 games in his rookie year . In this season, the Russian, who was in parallel for the second team of Awangard in the Pervaya League on the ice, rose with Chelyabinsk, for which he played mainly in the Vysschaya League in the 2003/04 season. Awangard Omsk became Russian champions in 2004 , but Bondarew did not complete enough games and was therefore not part of the championship. Through this success he and his team qualified for the IIHF European Champions Cup 2005 , in the final of which he and Awangard prevailed against Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga .

In the summer of 2005 Bondarew received a contract with HK Spartak Moscow , which he left after a year to play for Lokomotive Yaroslavl . After another season at the capital club HK Spartak Moscow, the defender was obliged by his ex-club HK Awangard Omsk from the newly founded Continental Hockey League before the 2008/09 season . For Awangard he completed over 170 KHL games in the following three years before he was signed by HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in May 2011 . At Magnitka Bondarew was part of the regular squad for the following two years before his contract expired in May 2013 and he moved to HK Tractor Chelyabinsk . For tractor he completed 54 KHL games and a further 8 games in the Nadezhda Cup . He was then signed by HK CSKA Moscow in May 2014 and played there until the middle of the 2015/16 season. After he had not achieved a single scorer point in this by the end of November 2015, he was given to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk .

After the 2015/16 season he did not receive a new contract with Neftechimik and therefore moved to HK Spartak Moscow . He played 94 KHL games for Spartak Moscow and was most recently assistant captain before returning to Awangard Omsk in July 2018.
