Alexei Wladimirowitsch Wolkow ( Russian Алексей Владимирович Волков ; born March 15, 1980 in Sverdlovsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been a member of the management of Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg since June 2015 .
Career
Alexei Volkov began his career at Dinamo-Energija Yekaterinburg before moving to Krylya Sovetov Moscow in 1997 , where he stayed for a season. In the 1998 NHL Entry Draft , the Los Angeles Kings had selected him in the third round in 76th place, for which he was never used. 1998 to 2001 Volkov played in the lower-class North American leagues. For the 2001/02 season he returned to Russia to Salawat Julajew Ufa . This was followed by three seasons with HK Dynamo Moscow , the 2005/06 season with HK MWD Tver and three seasons with Vitjas Chekhov . For the 2009/10 season he returned to the HK MWD, which had in the meantime been relocated to Balaschikha, and which, like his previous club Vitjas Chekhov, was included in the newly founded Continental Hockey League in 2008.
For the 2010/11 season , the HK MWD Balaschicha was merged with the HK Dynamo Moscow and Volkov received a contract with their successor club OHK Dynamo , for which he played until January 2013. He then moved to Atlant Mytishchi until the end of the season , before he was again obliged by Salawat Yulayev Ufa. For Salawat he completed 20 games in the KHL in the 2013/14 season before he was signed by the newly founded KHL participant HK Sochi in May 2014 . In this, however, he was not used in the KHL before he was released in December 2014.
In the 2014/15 season he only played one game for HK Kuban Krasnodar before ending his career and joining the management of Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg . Wolkow has been General Manager of HK Avangard Omsk since April 2020 .
