Reid Boucher (* 8. September 1993 in Grand Ledge , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who since June 2020 when Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League is (KHL) under contract and there on the position of left winger plays . Before that, Boucher was only active in North America, where he played 133 games for the New Jersey Devils , Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Career
Boucher played between 2009 and 2011 in the US National Team Development Program of the US Hockey Association USA Hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL). After he was eliminated in the summer of 2011 from the support program, he was selected in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in 99th place by the New Jersey Devils from the National Hockey League (NHL). The winger first moved to the Canadian Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and played the following two years for the Sarnia Sting junior team . After his rookie season, at the end of the 2011/12 season, on the basis of a trial contract, he got his first experience in the professional field with the Albany Devils , the New Jersey farm team from the American Hockey League (AHL). His second OHL season ended Boucher as the top scorer and fifth-best scorer in the league, which resulted in the election to the league's first all-star team.
After the American had signed a professional contract with the New Jersey Devils in March 2013, he completed the season end again in the spring of 2013 with the Albany Devils. With the beginning of the 2013/14 season he ran in the following three seasons for both New Jersey in the NHL and Albany in the AHL. In August 2016, his expired contract was extended by one year. However, when he was supposed to be sent to the AHL via the waiver again in November 2016 , he was signed by the Nashville Predators . After three NHL missions for the Predators and five more for their AHL farm team Milwaukee Admirals , Boucher found himself again on the waiver in early January 2017 and returned to New Jersey via the same. The next day the Devils also tried to send their former draft pick to the AHL, but lost Boucher again to the Vancouver Canucks via the waiver .
Eventually, the offensive player ended the season in the Canucks organization. In the following season 2017/18 he was then used in both the NHL in 20 games for Vancouver and in 45 games in the AHL for the Utica Comets . At the beginning of the 2018/19 season , the American was an integral part of Utica's squad and he only played one more NHL game by summer 2020. After he had, however, developed in the AHL one of the best players and at the end of the game year 2019/20 to the AHL First All-Star Team was called to Boucher decided in June 2020 of his career with the change for Avangard Omsk of the To give a new impetus to the Continental Hockey League (KHL). It was his first stop outside of the North American continent.
International
Boucher represented his home country at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2010 and the U18 Junior World Championship 2011 in Germany . He won the gold medal in both tournaments. With eight goals in six tournament games at the U18 World Cup and two other assists, he was instrumental in winning the US title.
