The HK Kuban Krasnodar ( Russian ХК Кубань Краснодар ) is a Russian ice hockey club from Krasnodar . The team played in the second-rate Vysschaja Hockey League until 2015 .
history
From 2007, there were first efforts to found a professional ice hockey club in Krasnodar . Preparations were made in autumn 2011 and the club was entered in the register of associations in spring 2012. The name is analogous to the football club FK Kuban Krasnodar . For the 2012/13 season Kuban Krasnodar was included as an expansion team in the Wysschaja Hockey League , the second Russian division. The first head coach in the club's history was Andrei Pyatanov.
HK Kuban Krasnodar acted as the farm team of KHL participant Vitjas Chekhov , later HK Sochi . After the 2014/15 season, the club withdrew from the Vysschaya Hockey League for financial reasons.
