The 7th ice hockey world championships of the U18 juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF were the ice hockey world championships of the year 2005 in the age group of the under-eighteen year olds (U18). Between March 7 and April 24, 2005, a total of 40 national teams took part in the six tournaments of the top division and divisions I to III. In addition, a qualification for Division III with three participants for the last free place in the tournament was played between February 18 and 20, 2005.
The world champions became the United States ' team for the second time , defeating arch rivals Canada 5-1 in the final . The German team was able to prevent relegation to Division I with eighth place in the top division, while Switzerland took ninth place in the top division and was relegated to Division I. Austria was fifth and penultimate in Group A of Division I and was thus able to avert slipping into Division II.

The U18 World Championship was held from April 14 to 24, 2005 in the Czech cities of Plzeň and České Budějovice . The game was played in the Plzeň Arena (8,420 seats) in Plzeň and the Budvar Aréna in České Budějovice with 6,421 seats.
Ten national teams took part in the tournament, playing in two groups of five teams each. The United States secured the world title, which clearly won 5: 1 against Canada in the final. It was the second title for the Americans.

After the group matches in the preliminary round, the two group winners qualify directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and thirds in the group each play a qualifying game for participation in the semi-finals. The fourth and fifth of the group games contest - if the result of the direct encounter from the preliminary round is taken with them - the relegation round and determine two relegated to Division I.
