Colton Jaret Yellow Horn (born May 5, 1987 in Brocket , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HSC Csíkszereda from the first division since August 2020 . He is a Blackfoot Indian of the Piikani First Nation .
Career
Colton Jaret Yellow Horn was one of Canada's greatest young talents. He played from 2003 to 2008 in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and came to 363 missions, where he scored 166 goals and 216 assists, so 382 points scorer . In the 2004/05 season he came as a striker of the Lethbridge Hurricanes from Alberta among the top five scorers in the league and increased his performance with the Tri-City Americans from Washington when he took first place in the US Division and with this team in 2007/08 reached the conference finals of the play-offs . In addition, he scored the most goals and the third most points in the league, which he had a significant share in the team win of the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy , as the team with the highest points in the regular season.
He also took part in the Junior World Championship 2005 (Top Division) and won the silver medal with the Canadian team.
In 2008 he came to Europe for the first time and played eleven games for the Austrian club EC Red Bull Salzburg before moving back to North America at the end of January 2009. He then made his debut in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) with the New York Elmira Jackals , scoring 15 points in 35 games. He then moved to the California club Stockton Thunder , where he contributed 10 points in 13 games.
The 2009/10 season he finished with the Allen Americans from Texas in the Central Hockey League (CHL) . With this team he also played in the 2010/11 season and managed 104 points in 79 games. The Americans won the Berry Conference by 20 points and were also 13 points ahead of the Turner Conference winner, which is why they were awarded the Bud Poile Governors' Cup as the strongest team in the main round. In the play-offs, however, they were defeated in the Conference Finals against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs . In 2011/12 Yellow Horn reached second place with the Americans at the Berry Conference and were tied with the winner of the Turner Conference. In the play-offs, however, there was a semi-final against the Texas Brahmas .
After a league change to Ontario Reign in the ECHL, he scored 36 goals and 22 assists in 48 games for the Californians in 2012/13. He was voted the league's January Player of the Month and was loaned to the Manchester Monarchs from the American Hockey League (AHL) , the second highest professional division in North America, in February . There he scored 20 points in 32 games, but the Monarchs did not get beyond the play-off quarter-finals.
In 2013 he left North America and signed again with a European club when he joined the squad of the Hungarian EBEL club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár . With this he was eliminated from the later league winners HC Bozen in the play-off quarter-finals. After a season with Nippon Paper Cranes from the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH) , he returned to the EBEL for the 2015/16 season and plays for the Czech club Orli Znojmo . At the end of the main round, he finished third in the league's top scorer list with 28 goals. In addition, he was fourth on the scorer list with 57 points. In the play-offs, the Canadian improved enormously and after the semi-finals was now at the top of the league with 78 points. He was then awarded the Ron Kennedy Trophy as Most Valuable Player of the Season.
For the 2016/17 season he received a contract with HC Plzeň from the Czech extra league . However, he decided to dissolve his contract in Plzeň at the end of October and moved back to HC Orli Znojmo in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .
In April 2018 Colton Yellow Horn was presented as a new addition to the Austrian club EC Graz 99ers .
