history

The SC Miercurea Ciuc was founded in 1929 as SC Miercurea Ciuc and was first Romanian champion in 1949 . The club has been able to repeat this success 15 times so far, most recently in 2018. This makes SC Miercurea Ciuc the second most successful ice hockey club in Romania after Steaua Bucharest (40 titles) . After the end of the Second World War , the association was renamed for the first time. Until 1957, the team played under the name Avîntul IPEIL Miercurea Ciuc . For the next three years the team ran as Recolta Miercurea Ciuc . After the ice hockey team was called Voința Miercurea Ciuc from 1960 to 1973 , it has been back to its original name since then. In 2001 and 2003, the club succeeded for the first time winning de Cupa României la Hochei pe gheață , the Romanian ice hockey cup . One year later, in 2004, the SC won the championship title for the first and only time in the Pannonian League , an ice hockey championship from southern Europe, in which teams from the area of historic Pannonia participate. After that season, the club left the league.

In 2006 SC Miercurea Ciuc was accepted into the Hungarian Borsodi Jégkorong League , in which one has since participated in addition to the Romanian ice hockey league . There the team plays under the Hungarian name Csíkszereda SC . Most recently, the SC was able to become Romanian champions in 2018, this was the 16th championship title in the club's history.

In 2010 the club changed its name to Hoki Sport Club Csíkszereda , got a new logo and added black as the club color.
