Hungarian ice hockey league

The OB I. Bajnokság , formerly Borsodi Jégkorong League , is the highest purely Hungarian ice hockey league , in which the Hungarian national champions have been played since 1936 .

The Hungarian League has been played since 1936. The league's record champions are the ice hockey department of Ferencvárosi TC with 25 titles (3 of them as Kinizsi SE Budapest ), followed by Újpesti TE and Alba Volán SC Székesfehérvár with 13 championships each.

In 2005/06 a Slovak club took part for the first time with Lokomotíva Nové Zámky . In 2006/07 SC Miercurea Ciuc from Transylvania , Romania was added instead . In 2007/08 , another club from Transylvania followed with HC Miercurea Ciuc . Finally, from 2008 the international league was spun off from the Hungarian championship. After its main sponsor, the league was called the MOL League until 2017 , and since then the new main sponsor has been the Erste Liga . The all-Hungarian games in this league are counted as games of the Hungarian championship.
