• Hungarian ice hockey league

The 2008/09 season was the 72nd season of the Hungarian Ice Hockey League , the highest Hungarian ice hockey league . Champion was for the tenth time in the club's history Alba Volán Székesfehérvár .

mode

The league was played with a total of five teams in the form of main round, intermediate round and playoffs with semi-finals, finals and various placement rounds. At the same time, the international MOL League competition ran for the first time (see MOL League 2008/09 ). In order to keep the number of games at a manageable level, the main round of the Hungarian league consisted only of the purely Hungarian matches rated in a separate table. Only from the intermediate round and after the end of the MOL league in February 2011 were the Hungarian league's own matches played.

Alba Volán Székesfehérvár ran a farm team this season; the combat team, which was also taking part in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga , only entered the competition at the beginning of the semi-finals and was fully qualified. In theory, an encounter between the first and second team would have been possible, but this did not happen.

Main round

The twenty encounters in the main round consisted of the purely Hungarian encounters in the MOL league, which were rated separately here. In both tables, however, the teams appear in the same order. In addition, a total of twelve games (two per team) were played against the Hungarian U20 national team, which, however, played out of competition and only won one of their encounters, a 9-0 victory against the farm team of Alba Volán. Another point came from a shootout loss against Miskolci JJSE.
