Nathan Martz (born March 4, 1981 in Chilliwack , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Alba Volán Székesfehérvár in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2009 .

Career

Nathan Martz began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the junior team Chilliwack Chiefs from the British Columbia Hockey League , for which he was active from 1997 to 2000. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the fifth round as a total of 140th player by the New York Rangers , for which he never played. Instead, the center attended the University of New Hampshire for four years , with whose ice hockey team he won the championship of the University League Hockey East in 2002 and 2003 .

In the 2004/05 season Martz made his debut in professional ice hockey for the Long Beach Ice Dogs from the ECHL . He then spent the next two years with their league rivals Stockton Thunder before going to Europe for the first time. In the 2007/08 season, the Canadian was national champion with the Storhamar Dragons from the Norwegian GET league . The 2008/09 season he spent with Alba Volán Székesfehérvár , for whom he played in the Austrian Ice Hockey League . In 48 games he got 39 scorer points. In the playoffs he was with Alba Volán's second team Hungarian champion .

The right- shooter began the following season at HC Alleghe in the Italian Serie A1 , but left it after only eight games and returned to Alba Volán, with whom he again played exclusively in the Austrian ice hockey league and in the playoffs during the main round became Hungarian champion.
