Joseph Mahfouz

Joseph Mahfouz OLM (born February 20, 1932 in Ghadir; † August 25, 2010 ) was a Lebanese clergyman and Maronite bishop of São Paulo . He was the third eparch of the Maronite Church in Brazil.

Life

Joseph Mahfouz joined the order of the Baladites and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1960 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nossa Senhora do Líbano em São Paulo in São Paulo on June 9, 1990 . The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole East, Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir , donated him episcopal ordination on August 12 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Antioch , Roland Aboujaoudé and Béchara Raï OMM .

He resigned on October 14, 2006 as Bishop of Nossa Senhora do Líbano em São Paulo.

Joseph Mahfouz died of complications from cancer and was buried in the Nisbei ​​Ghosta cemetery in Lebanon.
