The 2004/05 season was the 68th season of the Hungarian Ice Hockey League , the highest Hungarian ice hockey league . Champion was for the sixth time in the club's history Alba Volán Székesfehérvár .

In the first phase of the season, each of the six teams played a total of ten games. The first two finishers in the first phase of the season qualified directly for the final round. The other four teams competed against each other in a second phase of the season, with the two first-placed teams in the second phase of the season also qualifying for the final round. The results from the first phase of the season between teams that qualified for the second phase of the season were carried over to the second phase of the season. The first two of the final round qualified for the championship finals. The results from the first phase of the season between teams that qualified for the final round were also taken over into this. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
