Artyom Vaszjunyin ( Hungarian Vaszjunyin Artyom , Ukrainian Артем Васюнін / Artem Wasjunin; born January 26, 1984 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Hungarian - Ukrainian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Debreceni HK in the MOL league since 2014 .

Career

Artyom Vaszjunyin began his career as a hockey player in the youth of Alba Volán Székesfehérvár , for whose professional team he was active in the Hungarian ice hockey league from 2000 to 2002 . He then played one season each for their league rivals Ferencvárosi TC and Dunaferr SE Dunaújváros , where he was runner-up with Dunaferr in the 2003/04 season and cup winners. The native Ukrainian then returned to Alba Volán Székesfehérvár, for whom he was on the ice for the following seven years in the Hungarian ice hockey league and, from 2007, in the Austrian ice hockey league . With Alba Volán he was Hungarian champion in all of his seven seasons .

For the 2011/12 season Vaszjunyin returned to his former club Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák from the MOL league. After spending the 2013/14 season at Ferencvárosi TC again, in 2014 he joined Debreceni HK , which also plays in the MOL league.

International

For Hungary Vaszjunyin took part in the junior division of the U20 World Cup in Division I in 2004 . In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2007 and 2008 and in the top division in 2009 . He also played in November 2008 and February 2009 in the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . He then went on to play for the Hungarian national team until 2012 , but without being nominated for other tournaments.

Artyom Vaszjunyin's father is the former Soviet ice hockey player Oleg Wasjunin , who was a defender for HK Sokol Kiev in the 1980s . Oleg Wasjunin emigrated with his family to Hungary, where he ended his active career.
