Metropolitan marathon

The Metropolmarathon is a running event in Fürth ( Bavaria ) that has been held in June since 2007. A marathon and a relay marathon , a half marathon and a 10 km run are offered . At the same time as the 10 km runners, walkers and Nordic walkers go on the 10 km route. In 2007 the event started as a millennium marathon on the occasion of the city's 1000th anniversary; since 2008 it has been called the Metropolitan Marathon.

The marathon and half marathon routes are each a circuit. The marathon route (as of 2009) leads from the start on the Fürther Freiheit through the Fürth districts of Ronhof , Sack , Stadeln , Mannhof , Vach , Atzenhof , Unterfarrnbach, Burgfarrnbach , Oberfürberg, Unterfürberg, Dambach and Südstadt back to the center of Fürth. The goal is also on the Fürther Freiheit. Most of the route is wavy and winding. It leads on small sections over dirt roads, at the end in the center of Fürth over cobblestones. The half marathon route has a similar profile.
