The 1985/86 season was the 49th season of the Hungarian Ice Hockey League , the highest Hungarian ice hockey league . Master was for the eleventh time in the club's history Újpesti Dózsa SC .

mode

In the main round, each of the seven teams played a total of twelve games. The top three teams qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The remaining four teams contested a placement round. The main round results were carried over to the second phase of the season. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
