The Tobique River is a river in the northwest of the Canadian province of New Brunswick .

The river arises at the confluence of its two headwaters - Right Hand Branch Tobique River and Little Tobique River - at Tobique Forks north of Nictau .

The river flows mainly in a south-westerly direction. Below Nictau, the Tobique River passes Blue Mountain , Oxbow, and Plaster Rock , where the Wapskeheagan River meets it. The Tobique River continues past the Tobique First Nation to the Saint John River.

Immediately in front of the Tobique Dam there is a beach on its left bank and a rock break on the opposite side of the river. This is a popular photo opportunity during Indian summer .

The Tobique Narrows Dam was built between 1951 and 1953 about one kilometer from the confluence with the Saint John River by NB Power .
