The 2001/02 season was the 65th season of the Hungarian Ice Hockey League , the highest Hungarian ice hockey league . Master was for the fourth time in the club's history Dunaferr SE Dunaújváros .

In the main round, each of the seven teams played a total of twelve games. The two best-placed teams in the main round qualified for Group A in the intermediate round and also contested the championship finals. The other five main round participants met in group B of the intermediate round. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
