• Hungarian ice hockey league

The 2010/11 season was the 74th season of the Hungarian Ice Hockey League , the highest Hungarian ice hockey division . SAPA Fehérvár AV 19 became champion for the twelfth time in the club's history .

mode

The league was played with a total of six teams in the form of main round, intermediate round and playoffs with semi-finals and finals. Since the international MOL League competition was running for the third time in parallel (see MOL League 2010/11 ), the main round only consisted of the purely Hungarian matches, which were rated in a separate table. Only from the intermediate round and after the end of the MOL league in February 2011 were the Hungarian league's own matches played.

In the first and second phases of the championship, SAPA Fehérvár AV 19 only took part with the farm team, as the first team did not join until the start of the playoffs. In theory, the possibility of a playoff encounter between the first and second team could have arisen, but this did not happen.

Main round

The twenty games of the preliminary round came from the main round of the MOL league, in the final table of which the teams had a slightly different order. Újpesti TE finished the round with zero points, as the only victory, a 5-4 against Steaua Bucharest , succeeded against a non-Hungarian team.

Playoffs

The playoffs were played out with semi-finals and finals in the best of five and best of seven modes .

The semi-final series between the Budapest Stars and Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák was very even and could only be decided in the fifth game with the only away win. In contrast, the first team of SAPA Fehérvár AV 19 made it to the final with three wins, although a total of thirteen goals were scored in the first game and the match could only be decided in the penalty shoot-out.

The final series was also one-sided in favor of Fehérvár, who dominated with four wins in four games and was able to defend the title again. This means that the club has been the uninterrupted title holder since the 2002/03 season .
