András Horváth ( Hungarian Horváth András ; born April 8, 1976 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian ice hockey player who played for Alba Volán Székesfehérvár over 300 games in the Austrian ice hockey league.
Career
András Horváth began his career as a hockey player in the youth of Dunaferr SE Dunaújváros , for whose professional team he was active in the Hungarian ice hockey league from 1994 to 2005 . During this time, the defender won the national championship title four times (1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002) and seven times the national cup competition (1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004) with his team. The right-handed shooter was also runner-up six times (1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005) with Dunaferr SE Dunaújváros. The national player then moved in the summer of 2005 to their league rivals Újpesti TE , for whom he was active the following two seasons, before he received a contract with Alba Volán Székesfehérvár for the 2007/08 season , for whom he was in the Austrian ice hockey league and the Hungarian ice hockey league stood on the ice. In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 he won the Hungarian championship title with Alba Volán. In 2007 and 2013 he won the cup with the team. After spending the 2013/14 season at Újpesti TE in the MOL League , he switched to league and local competitor Ferencvárosi TC in summer 2014 , where he ended his career in 2015.
International
For Hungary Horváth took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior B European Championship in 1994 and the U20 Junior C World Championship in 1995 .
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championship in 1999 , the C World Championship in 1995 , 1996 , 1997 , 1998 and 2000 as well as after the changeover to the current category system at the World Championships in Division I in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2010 when he was voted the best defender of the tournament, 2011 when he was the second best goal setter behind his compatriot Balázs Ladányi and third best scorer behind his compatriots Ladányi and István Sofron , in 2012 and 2013 as well as at the World Cup of the top division 2009 . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
