Árpád Mihály ( Hungarian Mihály Árpád ; born June 27, 1980 in Miercurea Ciuc ) is a Romanian - Hungarian ice hockey player who has been under contract at the ASC Corona 2010 Brașov in the MOL League since 2014 .

Career

Árpád Mihály, who was born as a member of the Hungarian Szekler minority in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania , began his career as a hockey player with the Sioux City Musketeers, for which he was active in the 1999/2000 season in the junior league United States Hockey League . Then the attacker spent seven years in a variety of professional North American minor league - franchises . In the United Hockey League he played for the New Haven Knights and Mohawk Valley Prowlers , in the East Coast Hockey League for the Wheeling Nailers , Reading Royals and Las Vegas Wranglers , and in the American Hockey League for the Philadelphia Phantoms , Binghamton Senators , Wilkes -Barre / Scranton Penguins and Milwaukee Admirals .

For the 2007/08 season Mihály returned to Europe, where he received a contract with HC Bozen . With the South Tyroleans he won the Italian championship title straight away , but then moved to his hometown for HC Csíkszereda . With the team he won the championship title of the newly founded MOL league in the 2008/09 season and was voted the best striker in the league himself. Since the team had to be dissolved at the end of the season for financial reasons, Mihály Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from Hungary joined, for whom he has played in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since then . At the same time, he played for Alba Volán in the playoffs of the Hungarian ice hockey league in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and won the Hungarian championship title with his team in each of the three years . In 2014 he moved back to his native Romanian country and has since played in the MOL league at ASC Corona 2010 Brașov , whose team captain he was immediately appointed.

International

As a teenager, Mihály started for Romania and played at the U18-C European Championships in 1997 and 1998 . For Hungary , Mihály took part in the Division I World Championships in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 . At the 2013 tournament he was elected to the All-Star Team. He also started for the Magyars in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi in 2014, in which his team surprisingly failed in the first qualifying round in Budapest with a 6-7 penalty shootout against the Dutch .
