Csaba Kovács ( Hungarian Kovács Csaba ; born March 18, 1984 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Újpesti TE from the MOL league since 2017 .

Career

Csaba Kovács began his career as a hockey player with the Notre Dame Hounds in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. In 2002 he moved back to Hungary and played for Alba Volán Székesfehérvár , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Hungarian ice hockey league in the 2002/03 season . In his rookie year , the attacker became Hungarian champions for the first time with his team . The left-handed shooter was able to repeat this success in the following nine seasons with Alba, where he was on the ice since Alba's inclusion in the 2007/08 season in the Austrian ice hockey league alongside this until 2012 in the Hungarian ice hockey league . In addition, the Hungarian completed a total of 18 games for the Swedish club Grums IK in the 2006/07 season . In 2016 he moved to local rivals MAC Budapest and a year later to Újpesti TE .

International

For Hungary , Kovács initially took part in the U18-B World Championship in 1999 and the European Division I of the U18 World Championship in 2000 and, after the conversion to the current division system, in Division II in 2001 and 2002 as well as Division I in 2000 and the U20 junior World Championships of Division II 2001 , 2002 and 2003 as well as Division I 2004 .

In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2015 as well as in the top division at the World Championships in 2009 and 2016 . He also represented the Magyars at the qualifying tournaments for the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 , in Vancouver in 2010 , in Sochi in 2014 and in Pyeongchang in 2018 .
