The 4th ice hockey world championships of the U18 juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF were the ice hockey world championships of 2002 in the age group of under-eighteen year olds (U18). Between March 5 and April 21, 2002, a total of 41 national teams took part in the five tournaments of the top division as well as divisions I to III and the Asia-Oceania division.

In its fourth edition, the competition was reformed. The top division was increased from ten to twelve teams, with the teams playing off three final round and three relegation round participants in two groups of six. For the first time since the premiere of the competition in 1999, the final round was not played in a knockout system . The Asia-Oceania Division was played for the last time. The three best teams were able to qualify for Division III for the following year .

The world champion was the United States team for the first time , which was just ahead of arch-rivals Russia and the Czech Republic in the final . The German team was relegated to Division I by a tenth place in the top division as one of three teams, while Switzerland took seventh place in the top division. Austria was third in Division I.
