Alexei Alexejewitsch Schkotow ( Russian Алексей Алексеевич Шкотов ; born June 22, 1984 in Elektrostal , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Spartak Moscow in the Continental Hockey League until 2011 .
Career
Alexei Schkotow began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with Elemasch Elektrostal . For its professional team, he made his debut in the 2001/02 season in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, and played in parallel for its second team in the third-rate Pervaya League . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the second round as a total of 48th player from the St. Louis Blues . Initially, however, the attacker stayed in his Russian homeland and was on the ice for HK CSKA Moscow in the Super League in the 2002/03 season .
The 2003/04 season spent Schkotow with the Moncton Wildcats and Remparts de Québec in the Canadian Junior League QMJHL . For the following season he moved to the farm team of the Blues, the Worcester IceCats from the American Hockey League , but left it after only 23 appearances and joined Chimik Woskressensk from the Super League, for which he played in the following two years as well from the 2005/06 season for their successor team Chimik Moskowskaja Oblast. During the 2006/07 season , the Russian was obliged by his league rivals Salawat Yulayev Ufa , for whom he played in the following two and a half years - first in the Super League and in the 2008/09 season in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . In the 2007/08 season , the national player with Salawat Julajew Ufa became Russian champions .
The 2009/10 season began Schkotow at HK Sibir Novosibirsk , for which he played only nine games before he received a contract with the capital club HK Spartak Moscow in January 2010 , for which he played in the following year and a half.
International
For Russia , Schkotow took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2002 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2004 and was runner-up at the U18 World Championship in 2002 with his team. In the senior sector he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007 .
