Kamil Kreps (born November 18, 1984 in Litoměřice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Kamil Kreps began his career as an ice hockey player in his Czech homeland in the youth team of HC Litvínov , for which he was active until 2001. Then the attacker moved to the Ontario Hockey League , where he ran for three years for the Brampton Battalion . During this time he was selected during the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 38th player by the Florida Panthers . In the 2004/05 season Kreps played for the first time in professional ice hockey, after he had been appointed to the squad of Florida's farm team at the time , the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League , before the season started . On January 7, 2007, Kreps made his National Hockey League debut for the Florida Panthers when he was on the ice in the game against the Vancouver Canucks .
After he had completed over 200 NHL games for the Panthers by 2010, he did not get a contract extension and returned to Europe. There he was signed by Kärpät Oulu from the SM-liiga . After a year he left the Finns again and signed a contract with Barys Astana from the Continental Hockey League for the 2011/12 season .
In August 2012 Kreps was signed by the new KHL participant HC Slovan Bratislava , but his contract was terminated shortly before the start of the season. A few weeks later, the Czech signed a contract for a season with the Kloten Flyers from the National League A , for which he subsequently completed 26 NLA games, but was often not used as a surplus foreigner. From May 2013 Kreps was under contract with Ässät Pori . In 2014 Kreps moved to the Czech Extraliga ice hockey club HC Oceláři Třinec , where he was under contract until the end of the 2016/17 season. In the three years Kreps came to 51 scorer points in 94 main round games. From October 2017 Kreps was active at the German ice hockey club Grizzlys Wolfsburg , where he received a contract until the end of the season.
International
For the Czech Republic , Kreps took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2002 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2004 . In the first tournament, the right-handed shooter was on the ice in eight games and scored five points . He also won the bronze medal with the Czech selection. In the latter competition, after losing to Canada in the semifinals and Finland in the game for third place, Kreps finished fourth with the team, with no points in seven games.
