history

The Brampton Battalion was founded on December 3, 1996 as a franchise of the Ontario Hockey League . After a year and a half of preparation, the team began playing in the OHL in the 1998/99 season . After playing in the Western Conference for the first four years, they were assigned to the Eastern Conference following the relocation of the North Bay Centennials to Saginaw , Michigan . In their first year in the Central Division, Brampton won the division title straight away, which they defended in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
