The Brantford Alexanders were a Canadian ice hockey team from Brantford , Ontario . The team played from 1978 to 1984 in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

history

The Hamilton Fincups were relocated to Brantford, Ontario in 1978 and renamed Brantford Alexanders. The team is named after the inventor Alexander Graham Bell , who spent part of his life in the Brantford area. Initially, the Alexanders played for two years in the Ontario Hockey Association before they were included in its successor league , the Ontario Hockey League , in 1980.

After Brantford still missed the playoffs in the 1978/79 season, it then reached them five times in a row, never getting further than the Conference semifinals, in which the team was subject to the Windsor Spitfires in the 1979/80 season .

After six years, the franchise was moved back to Hamilton , Ontario , in 1984 , where it was then active in the OHL under the name Hamilton Steelhawks .
