Shayne Paul Corson (born August 13, 1966 in Barrie , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 1296 games for the Canadiens de Montréal , Edmonton Oilers , St. Louis Blues , Toronto Maple in the course of his active career between 1982 and 2004 Leafs and Dallas Stars played in the National Hockey League on the left winger position . Corson, who took part in the NHL All-Star Game three times, celebrated his greatest career success in the jersey of the Canadian national team with victories at the 1991 Canada Cup and the 1994 World Cup . His brother-in-law is former Canadian ice hockey player Darcy Tucker , who was also active in the NHL.
Career
Corson began his career in 1982 with the Barrie Colts in the OHA Junior B Youth League and moved to the Ontario Hockey League the following season , where he played one year for the Brantford Alexanders and two for the Hamilton Steelhawks . In the NHL Entry Draft , the annual talent draw of the National Hockey League , he was selected in 1984 by the Montreal Canadiens in eighth position in the first round.
In 1986 he made his debut for the Canadiens in the National Hockey League and was initially in the Canadiens squad until 1992 . He then went on ice for three seasons for the Edmonton Oilers , the last as team captain . He then held the captaincy for the first of one and a half years with the St. Louis Blues , before returning to the Montréal Canadiens in the current 1996/97 season , for which he laced the skates until 2000 .
From 2000 to 2003 he was under contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs before ending his active career with the Dallas Stars in the 2003/04 season.
International
Corson represented the Canadian national team at the Junior World Championships in 1985 and 1986 , the Canada Cup in 1991 , the World Championships in 1993 and 1994 and at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano .
With his team he became Junior World Champion in 1985. He was then elected to the All-Star Team at the 1986 World Junior Championship, where Canada won the silver medal, and was the player with the most goals and points. In 1991 he won the Canada Cup with the national team and the World Cup in 1994.
