Career
Ethan Moreau began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League , in which he played from 1991 to 1995, first three and a half years for the Niagara Falls Thunder and finally six months for the Sudbury Wolves . During this time he was selected in the first round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft as the 14th player of the Chicago Blackhawks . After four years in Chicago, Moreau had to leave the Blackhawks when he was given to the Edmonton Oilers on March 20, 1999 together with Daniel Cleary , Chad Kilger and Christian Laflamme in exchange for Boris Mironow , Dean McAmmond and Jonas Elofsson .
During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , Moreau played one season in Europe , where he was on the ice for the EC VSV from Austria . After resumption of play in the National Hockey League , the attacker returned to the Oilers for the 2005/06 season and reached the final games of the Stanley Cup with his team, in which, however, he and his team were defeated by the Carolina Hurricanes . Due to numerous serious injuries, Moreau was only able to play 32 NHL games in the years 2006 to 2008. Nevertheless, on October 2, 2007, he was named captain of the Oilers. He occupied this position until June 2010, before he was put on the waiver list by the Oilers, who had finished last season . From there, the Columbus Blue Jackets selected him on June 30, 2010 . As a free agent , Moreau signed a season contract with the Los Angeles Kings in August 2011 . After the 2011/12 season, the Canadian ended his active career and then worked as a scout for the Montréal Canadiens .
