Indianapolis Ice was an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Indianapolis , Indiana . The venue for the Ice was the Indiana State Fair Coliseum .
history
Indianapolis Ice was founded in 1988 as a franchise of the International Hockey League . After missing the playoffs in their debut season, the team won the Turner Cup for the first and only time under Canadian ex-NHL player Darryl Sutter in the 1989/90 season after they won the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the best in the final. of-seven series hit with a sweep . Subsequently, Indianapolis could not build on this success and only reached the second playoff round again in the 1998/99 season. The following year, the Indiana team moved to the Central Hockey League , where they immediately won the Miron Cup as CHL champions in the 1999/2000 season . After another four years in the CHL, the franchise was relocated to Topeka , Kansas , in 2004, where it then took part in the CHL's gaming operations under the name Topeka Tarantulas .
