Brian Noonan (born May 29, 1965 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player who played 700 games for the Chicago Blackhawks , New York Rangers , St. Louis Blues , Vancouver during his playing career between 1984 and 2001 Canucks and Phoenix Coyotes in the National Hockey League on the position of right winger . With the New York Rangers Noonan celebrated the greatest success of his career in the form of winning the Stanley Cup in 1994.
Career
Noonan moved from high school to the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League in the summer of 1984 , where he played a season for the New Westminster Bruins . After he had already been selected in the ninth round in the ninth round in the NHL Entry Draft in 1983 by the Chicago Black Hawks from the National Hockey League , he switched to the professional field for the 1985/86 season . Between 1985 and 1987 he worked for the Chicago farm team , the Saginaw Generals in the International Hockey League and the Nova Scotia Oilers in the American Hockey League . In the IHL, Noonan received the Ken McKenzie Trophy as the best American rookie at the end of the season .
For the 1987/88 season , the striker made his first jump into the Blackhawks' NHL squad. However, it took until the 1991/92 season before he could establish himself as a regular player there. To date, he had been elected to both the First and Second All-Star Teams of the IHL in 1990 and 1991 as a member of the Indianapolis Ice . Noonan finally stayed in Chicago until March 1994, before he was transferred with Stéphane Matteau to the New York Rangers , who in return received Tony Amonte and the transfer rights to junior player Matt Oates . With the Rangers Noonan won at the end of the Stanley Cup Playoffs 1994 the Stanley Cup .
After another season in New York, the American moved to the St. Louis Blues as a free agent in the summer of 1995 . He remained loyal to this until November 1996, before another transfer brought him back to the Rangers, while Sergio Momesso moved to St. Louis. Noonan's second time with the Rangers lasted only about four months, however, as he was again part of a transfer deal. In March 1997 he was given to the Vancouver Canucks with the Russian Sergei Nemtschinow , which Esa Tikkanen and Russ Courtnall received. There the striker fulfilled his contract, which was valid until the summer of 1998, but subsequently found no further employment with an NHL franchise . Instead, Noonan joined the Indianapolis Ice from the IHL. It wasn't until March 1999 that he accepted an offer from the Phoenix Coyotes for the rest of the season. In twelve missions, Noonan could not recommend himself for a further commitment, whereupon he let his career end in the following two game years with the Chicago Wolves in the IHL. With Chicago he won the Turner Cup in the spring of 2000 .
