Career

Sergio Momesso began his career in 1982 with the Cataractes de Shawinigan in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . Overall, he played for three years in the junior league, which is one of the strongest in North America. In the 1983 NHL Entry Draft , the left-shot was drafted by the Canadiens de Montréal in 27th place and already played his first game in the National Hockey League in the same year . In 1985 Momesso finally moved to the Canadiens for three years. Subsequently, he was active for three seasons with the St. Louis Blues , where he played in the season 1989/90 on the side of Brett Hull and Adam Oates his point best season. During the 1990/91 season , the right winger moved to the Vancouver Canucks . Until 1995, he played for the Canadians with whom he in 1994 in the Stanley Cup was final, but which against the New York Rangers was lost.

After playing for four different clubs in the two years from 1995 to 1997 (Vancouver, Toronto Maple Leafs , Rangers, St. Louis), Momesso decided to move to Germany for the 1997/98 season and joined the Kölner Haien . In 1998/99 he was German runner- up with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers before returning to the KEC after only one year. He was also runner-up with the Haien ( 1999/2000 ), but was unable to win a title at the last station of his career. In 2001 he ended his active career.

After his playing days Momesso returned to North America and became an assistant coach at Concordia University , at his former club from Shawinigan and the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League .

In May 2019 he supported the Nuremberg hobby team Lemmy Krevets eV in two games as part of the “Montreal Hockey Festival”.
