Sergei Lwowitsch Nemtschinow ( Russian Сергей Львович Немчинов ; born January 14, 1964 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current coach .
Career
Sergei Nemchinow began his career at Krylya Sowetow Moscow and made his debut for the men's team during the 1981/82 season in the Vysschaya League . In 1982 he moved to CSKA Moscow , with whom he in 1983 , 1984 and 1985 the ice hockey European Cup won. He was also the Soviet champion in 1984 and 1985 with the Army Sports Club . After these successes he returned to Krylya Sovetov in 1985, where he was active until 1991.
In the 1990 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the 12th round in 244th position by the New York Rangers . In 1991 he moved to the Rangers in the National Hockey League . Other stations in his career in the NHL were the Vancouver Canucks , New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils . In 1994 he won the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers and three other Russian players - Alexander Karpovzew , Alexei Kovalev and Sergei Subow . These four were the first native Russians to be immortalized at the Stanley Cup. In 2000 he repeated winning this trophy with the New Jersey Devils. In 2002 he returned to Russia and played two more seasons with Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the Russian Super League . During this time he took second place with Yaroslavl in the IIHF Continental Cup 2002/03 and also won the Russian championship title in 2003 .
International
Sergei Nemchinov began to represent his homeland internationally early in his career. In 1982 he won the bronze medal at the European U18 junior championship , then he was both 1983 and 1984 junior world champion.
On April 9, 1984 he was appointed to the Soviet men's national team for the first time , but initially only played in friendly matches and preparatory tournaments. In 1987 he took part with the Sbornaja in the Canada Cup , where they took second place. Between 1989 and 1991 he won two gold and one bronze medal at world championships . In 1990 he was named the Honored Master of Sports of Russia .
He later became a member of the Russian national ice hockey team after the collapse of the Soviet Union . His international career was crowned with a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics .
As a trainer and functionary
Nemtschinow belonged to the coaching staff of the Russian national team from January 2006 to September 2007, took part in the 2006 Winter Olympics with Sbornaja and won the bronze medal with this at the 2007 World Cup . From June 2007 he was also the head coach of the Russian U20 national team. In the eight-game Super Series 2007 against Canada , his team lost seven games. He then led the team to two bronze medal wins at the Junior World Championships in 2008 and 2009 .
In May 2009 he took over the post of head coach and general manager at HK CSKA Moscow and remained in this double function until the end of the 2010/11 season. Until 2012 he kept the post of General Manager.
Between May 2015 and November 2017 he was General Manager of Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk .
For the 2019 World Cup of Division IA, he was hired as assistant coach of the South Korean national team . He was then accepted into the coaching staff of the Turkmen national ice hockey team in order to prepare them for the 2020 World Cup in Division III.
