The Soviet U20 national ice hockey team represented the Ice Hockey Federation of the Soviet Union in ice hockey in the U20 junior level at international competitions and has been one of the best young national teams in the world for as long as it was founded. At the U20 World Championships , the selection won a total of eleven gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals. In 1991 the Soviet U20 selection was replaced by the U20 selection of the CIS .

history

The Soviet U20 national ice hockey team played their first game in 1973 in Leningrad with a 6-2 win over Finland and subsequently played exclusively at the highest level at world championships. She won the world championship eleven times, only twice did she not finish a tournament on the podium. At the 1987 World Cup , the team was disqualified after a mass brawl in the game against Canada.
