Alexander Alexandrowitsch Tschornych ( Russian Александр Александрович Чёрных ; born September 22, 1965 in Voskressensk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet - Russian ice hockey player . His son Dmitri is also a hockey player.
Career
During his career, Alexander Tschornych played for Chimik Voskressensk , a few games for CSKA Moscow and SKA MWO Kalinin in the Pervaya League . In the 1983 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the tenth round in 185th place by the New Jersey Devils . Due to the political situation in what was then the Soviet Union , he never played in the National Hockey League . In total, he scored 59 goals in 231 games in the highest Soviet league, the Wysschaja Liga .
In the summer of 1989 he had to end his career due to the health consequences of a car accident.
International
As a junior, Tschornych was internationally active for the Soviet Union and won two U20 world championship titles ( 1983 and 1984 ), one U18 European championship title ( 1984 ) and another bronze medal at the 1985 World Junior Championship
On October 29, 1987, he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Soviet men's national team on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics . For the national team, he scored 12 goals in 45 international matches. On May 1, 1989, he played his last international match.
